Bible Question:
Please give ONE example in the New Testement of someone Born again who lost thier salvation! Love Tim |
Bible Answer: tj57h@cs.com I have provided you with the following example of two individuals who as far as I can tell have at one time forfeited their salvation. It was said of these two that they made shipwreck of their faith. The picture I get of a shipwreck, is the ship is run upon the shallows and rocks by the wind and waves, and the waves pound athe ship into the rocks unmercifully until they bust the ship apart and it sinks or is cast adrift. The ship is destroyed. The same way the faith of these two was destroyed. Others will tell you they were not ever truly saved to begin with. I believe Paul would have told us that was the case if it was true. But I don't buy into that philosophy and thinking. Since Paul never said they were never really saved to begin with, that would have to be an assumption on the part of those who read these verses in that context. Paul wrote about some who "made ship-wreck of their faith" (1 Tim. 1:19,20) unlike many in our day Paul did not say of these who shipwrecked their faith, they were never really saved to begin with. 1 Tim. 1:18-20 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
