AMPLIFIED 2015 | Luke 23:26 ¶ When they led Him away, they seized a man, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in [to the city] from the country, and placed on him the cross to carry behind Jesus. [Matt 27:32; Mark 15:21] |
Bible Question:
I never said that I believed once saved always saved. I believe you can lose your salvation, because Jesus said If you abide in me I will abide in you. Being born of the spirit and water is simple...When you are born from your mothers womb, that is being born of water. Being born of the spirit is when you ask Jesus into you heart, and are saved, then the command is to go and be baptized. Like I said befor, if you are in a place where there is no water..How can you be baptized? Lets say a man is ready to go into battle, and is in a foxhole with a Christian. The Christian asks him, are you saved? He says no, then the Christian leads him to the Lord, and the man accepts Jesus as his savior. There certainly is no water in that foxhole, and when the charge is sounded he has to go into battle. He is not baptized, and if he is shot, and killed, you are telling me he is going to hell because he wasn't baptized...NO WAY...When he accepted Jesus in the foxhole he was saved, if he is shot and killed he is going to heaven. |
Bible Answer: Unfortunately I think you are wrong this time. The doctrine of "once saved always saved" is very sound. According to Ephesians 1:4 we were chosen before the foundations of the world that we would be holy and blameless before Him. Now I believe my name is written in the Lambs book of life not on God's cosmic chalkboard where is can be erased and added depending on my sins. I was "Sealed for the day of redemption" and I will be there before the throne of God for all eternity and I hope to take as many people with me as possible. Paul talks about the peace that passes understanding. There is no peace in Christ if were are continuously being saved and losing that salvation over and over again. If that were the case we would not have a peace that passes understanding, but a mortal fear that even though were are serving Christ and spreading the Word of God, we could spend eternity in Hell. I am saved. I will always be saved. If it is not the case Christ died needlessly because his work on the Cross was insufficient to save me. Using your foxhole example: How can you be so sure that "if he is shot and killed he is going to heaven" when you think people can lose their salvation? How do you know he had salvation or if he had lost it in those first few seconds of his new life in Christ? The answer is simple. He was saved. He will always be saved. And he can have that peace that passes all understanding. CP7x77 |
