NASB | Luke 17:10 "So you too, when you do all the things which are commanded you, say, 'We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.'" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Luke 17:10 "So you too, when you have done everything that was assigned and commanded you, say, 'We are unworthy servants [undeserving of praise or a reward, for we have not gone beyond our obligation]; we have merely done what we ought to do.'" |
Bible Question: When the disciples asked Jesus to "increase their faith," He included this in His instruction. Please consider the passage in Luke 17:5-10. I'm interested in comments on verse 10 - what does this say to you? Does this say something about OUR servanthood or what our attitude should/should not be? |
Bible Answer: Mommapbs, This verse is explaining to us that to do our duty to God, does not require God to reward us. For example ,if we are paid to do a job then should our employer, thank us or reward us for doing that for which we are paid to do. No.The Last sentance in the verse explanes all, we have done that which was our duty.If we are doing things for God, expecting self prase for it then we have allready recieved our reward. DL5 |
