Bible Question:
Dear NASB Forum, Luke 11:8 seems to say that God answers because of persistence. In other words, it seems to imply that asking God once concerning a matter is not enough - that we must keep on asking and keep on knocking until He answers. If we are His children, then why does He not simply hear us and answer the first time? Is it truly grace if our prayers are answered according to our persistence instead of according to His loving care? How do we reconcile this attitude with 2 Pet 1:3 that says that His divine power has already granted us everything we need for life and godliness? Thanks. McGracer |
Bible Answer: God hears our prayers the the first time when we say them. Sometimes the answer may be delayed because the enemy (Satan) may try to block the answer (Dan 10:12-14) or we ask God with the wrong motives (James 4:3). When we ask God for anything it must be in accordance with his will for you. Also you must believe that he hears you, and in God's timing not ours. The answer will come. While we are awaiting the answer, give thanks and praise (praise speeds up the answer) unto the Lord. As for 2 Peter 1:3 is referring to the Spiritual tools (The HOLY SPIRIT) we need to live a holy and blameless life before the LORD. |
