Bible Note: Good Lord's Day Ray! 1) Rev 22:18-19 2) What is the difference between God is Love and God is a "Good" Neighbor? If God is love then I would say that God is a good Neighbor. 3) Just because Scripture does not have that phrase are we forbidden from seeing God as my Neighbor? (The One who showed mercy) Jesus says, "Apart from Me, you can do nothing." John 15:5 How can I "Go and do the same," without God? Consider this: Jesus declares: only God is good. Because I have been given the indwelling Spirit of God (His goodness), His presence enables me to be a good neighbor - the one without the Spirit (does not have the goodness of God) therefore he cannot be a "good" neighbor, no matter how beneficial his work may be toward others.) I am rather sad today that this little blessing I had from my time with the Lord has led to such criticism from the body here. I don't believe that God intends for us to read His word with minds and ears of those to whom it was originally written - I believe that God can and does illuminate His Word to speak into our individual lives for HIS purposes - His Word will not return to Him without accomplishing His will. When He shows me something as He did, it is usually is in response to something I questioned (A week ago I pondered the response of the wounded man - I asked, "Why didn't Jesus tell us about this?") Yesterday, in my reading of 1 Cor 13, God answered me and He opened my mind by bringing to remembrance many verses.) In no way am I adding to Scripture here,(I agree with Doc and others that God's Word, the Bible is the complete record of His plan for man's redemption) but what I believe God told me was for the edification of others who perhaps are struggling with seeing God as He is in light of the current world disaster - a good Neighbor. If we believe that Jesus is the Word, what precludes us from considering that as the Word, He can and does still speak into our lives today? Of what purpose is the Holy Spirit - to guide us into all truth, to speak and disclose what is to come (John 16:13) - what is truth? How about God's will for our lives, where to live, what job to take, where to go to school, which missionary to support - can you point me to a chapter or verse that will instruct me in these things? I truly believe that God is interested in every aspect of our lives and He is honored and delights in us when we include Him in them - yes especially the "insignificant" things. As one who has received instruction from the Lord, as well as correction for errant thinking and behavior, I feel truly sad that others miss out on this because they believe that God's Word is the only place from which God communicates to us today. In this instance, God did communicate to me through His Word, He showed me something about Himself - HE is the good Neighbor. No, I won't pencil in anything, but keep it in my heart until God directs me to those to whom this will be edifing. Thanks for listening to my heart. Blessings, mommapbs |
