Bible Note: All literature requires us to use our imagination. A modern writer might say, "As Joe caught sight of her, he grinned and waved." Here, the writer is not telling us what Joe was feeling, only what he did. We have to use our imagination, based on what we know of people in general and Joe in particular, to infer his emotional state.
