Subject: Are we to pray to the holy spirit? |
Bible Note: iktoose: Thanks for your question. Let me give you some Scriptures and ask you to search them out as well as doing additional research on your own, and in that regard I would recommend that you use an exhaustive concordance which will enable you to read everything that Scripture says concerning prayer. Intensively searching the Scriptures is the only way I know of to learn what the Bible teaches on prayer or any other topic. ...... Jesus prayed to the Father (Matt. 11:25,26; John 11:41,42; John 12:28; John 17:1-26; Matt. 26:39,42,44; Matt. 27:46; Luke 23:34,46). ..... Jesus taught His disciples to pray to the Father (Matt. 6:6 and 6:9; Luke 11:2). ..... The disciples prayed to the Father for confidence in Acts 4:23-31. In the parable of the Pharisee and tax collector, the publican prayed to the Father to have mercy on him, a sinner (Luke 18:9-14). Paul prayed to the Father through Jesus Christ (Romans 1:8-10). Jesus Christ is the mediator between God and men (1 Tim. 2:5) and the Holy Spirit intercedes for us in our prayers with groanings too deep for words (Romans 8:26,27). For other references of Paul's prayers to the Father see Eph. 3:14-21; 2 Tim. 1:3; 1 Cor. 1:4; Philippians 1:3; Col. 1:3; 1 Thess. 1:2; and 2 Thess. 1:3. --Hank |
