Subject: Hide righteousness or let it shine? |
Bible Note: "You are the light of the world." Matthew 5:14 "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16 NASB --contrasted with Luke 2:32 "A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel."NKJ If we don't think more highly of ourselves than we ought to think, and realize the huge difference between our light and the Light of the world, we'll be all right. I give you Matthew 4:16 and Luke 1:78,79 to compare. I was led to Luke 6:40 also if you don't mind a little extra capitalization. "A pupil is not above his Teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his Teacher."--contrasted with Matthew 10:24 "A disciple is not above his Teacher, nor a slave above his Master. It is enough for the disciple that he become like his Teacher, and the slave like his (Master)."--John 11:9 "If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the (Light) of this world. (Parenthesis mine for comparison.) |
