NASB | Matthew 26:24 "The Son of Man is to go, just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 26:24 "The Son of Man is to go [to the cross], just as it is written [in Scripture] of Him; but woe (judgment is coming) to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had never been born." [Ps 41:9] |
Subject: Is it necessarily a threat? |
Bible Note: Greetings Ray! Concerning 'woe' my friend, check out the context of all it's occurances in the Gospels and it definitely seems that there is an element of judgement associated with the word. Concerning the last clause, I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for in terms of comments. The last clause simply says: 'good was to him if not he was born the man that one'. If you could clarify what you are looking for, perhaps I can help! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
