Bible Question:
I am looking for the scripture that states (not a quote): The generation that saw Israel become a nation will not pass away before the return of the Son of Man This is my first time on this website. Please let me know if I am violating any rules, etc. Any help would be appreciated. |
Bible Answer: Hi, MamaHart2004! There are several refences dealing with Christ in the Old Testament... mostly they are prophetic references... some are hidden references... a few are specific... none of them refer to the people of Israel not passing away before witnessing the coming of the Anointed! (There have been individuals to whom the Holy Spirit revealed--whether in a vision or in the spirit I do not know--Joshua (the Anointed or Messiah) to them... but, again, not as a promise that the pre-Christ generation(s) would be witness to the Messiah's coming.) The only time that the idea is introduced is in the Gospels--Jesus is letting His disciples, and the Jewish people at large, know that the promise of the coming of the Kingdom of God has been fulfilled in Him: John 4:23-24; Mark 1:15; Luke 10:11.
