AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 23:37 ¶ "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who murders the prophets and stones [to death] those [messengers] who are sent to her [by God]! Subject: Two aspects of the will of God |
Bible Note: Tim, Just saying it is so, does'nt make it so. Verse 1 Paul calls his audience "beloved". 2 Pet 3:8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 2 Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. The lord is patient toward WHO? YOU! who are "you"? In context, Paul is addresing you beloved" When he says "not willing that any to perish". There is no reason (except doctrine) to assume that, out of nowhere, Paul changes from an assurance of Christ's return to a universal assurance that God desires to save all men. If that was the case then Paul would be assuring the beloved that at the 2nd coming all men WOULD be saved. But as you have said: we have been down this road before. Merry Christmas Tim! John |
