Bible Question:
Thanks Searcher56 for your answer. Having read the verses you quoted again, I see that this does not refer to salvation but to rewards. Is Scripture telling us that the position at the table depends upon one's rewards? That is, the more rewards the closer to Jesus? Or the more one gives up and becomes a servant, the closer to Jesus? Are we to be servants on earth as well as in the Kingdom? Jesus' disciples gave up everything (Matt 19:27) yet Jesus tells them they will "sit upon twelve thrones"(verse 28) which doesn't identify with being servants ? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Matt 19:16--20:20-28, Mark 10:35-45 ... Expand Matthew 19:16 even beyond verse 30 or 20:16. The disciples were clamoring for position ... they may not have wanted to be servants. We don't know what position we will hold in the Kingdom. We need to be willing to be last on earth and even in the Kingdom. God will elevate whom He chooses. It could be the unnoticed one who cleans up will be on His right side. I don't think the amount of rewards will determine poistion. |
