Bible Question:
Does anyone have an opinion of Matthew 16:28 "Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom." Does Jesus mean the physical death of the people that were there with him or does it mean something else? This sounds a little confusing because it's been so long since then can anyone clarify this for me? |
Bible Answer: There are two clues in this verse.. 1. SOME here will not taste death UNTIL... This phrase can't be speaking of spiritual death because these were believers and scripture speaks of spiritual death for unbelievers and eternal life for believers. So Jesus must be speaking of physical death of the body. 2. See the Son of Man coming into His Kingdom. The Kingdom of God has already come..(NOT THE FINAL TIME OF THE BINDING OF THE ENEMY AND THE REIGN ON EARTH BY OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR). Luke 17:20-21 20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21nor will they say, "See here!' or "See there!' For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you." Clossians 1:13 13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of ( His beloved Son, Chapter 17 emediately goes to the mount of transfiguration. We are spirit beings BORN into the Kingdom of God by the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit. And although Jesus is speaking in verse 27 of the final judgement/reward the verses prior to this and continuing in chapter 27 are warning not to allow anything in this life to prevent us.Would we chose the world and it's deceptive riches ffor the blessings of the kingdm of God? Verse 26 Matt 16:26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life [HIS BLESSED LIFE IN THE KINGDOM]? Or what would a man give as an exchange for his [blessed] life [in the kingdom of God]? My observations... God bless |
