AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 16:24 ¶ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me]. |
Bible Question: Jesus said that we are to die daily to ourselves, and carry our cross. Could someone give me more insight on this? |
Bible Answer: Matt. 16:24, Luke 9:23, Titus 1:16, Titus 2:12 Dying daily to yourself and carrying your cross means to make a conscious, very conscious, choice to not spend your time or actions on pleasing yourself, BUT on doing what can help/benefit others, which is ultimately pleasing/serving the Lord |
