AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 14:13 ¶ When Jesus heard about John, He left there privately in a boat and went to a secluded place. But when the crowds heard of this, they followed Him on foot from the cities. [Mark 6:32-44; Luke 9:10-17; John 6:1-13] |
Bible Question: What was Jesus' response when He heard that John the Baptist had been killed by Herod? How did He handle the grief when the only person on earth that He could possibly 'relate' to at the time was killed? |
Bible Answer: Nolan ... He went away to a solidtary place. While the Bible does not say, I think He went to pray, as He did in Mark 1:35. With John gone, Jesus' ministry was about to increase. So I think He needed to talk with His Father. The 12 had just returned from their trip (Mark 6:6-13, 30-32) ... so they of needed R and R, too. I also think there was grief. John was His cousin and forerunner. He wept at the tomb of Lazarus (John 11:35) and was deeply moved (vs. 38). Steve Searching Scripture |
