Subject: Good and Bad Fruit Out of Context? |
Bible Note: continued The seventh application; Isn't this talking directly about the fruit of the Pharisees and not of Jesus fruit and that you will know Pharisees by their fruits? You will know anyone by their fruit. The point of the passage though is that they saw what Jesus did; performed a miracle and instead of recognizing that only God or someone sent from God could do this miracle; making this blind and mute demon possessed man see and speak, casting out the demon; they wrongly say Jesus is under the influence of Satan. What a horrible thing to say. This shows the length they will go to reject and rebell against Him. A word study on "Satan" and "demons" will show you the work of the devil. Also remember the message Jesus sent to John the Baptist when John was in prison. John sent to Jesus and asked Him something to the effect was I wrong or are you the Messiah. Jesus sent back a message to John and said look at the things I am doing, the miracles. They testify of Me. Cross References are crucial. Precept upon Precept. Truth upon truth. The author's intent to his audience - Not there that I could see, but I may be wrong - The author's intent to his audience would be achieved by reading the entire book of Matthew and searching for his purpose. I have not studied Matthew in depth so I can't tell you that, sorry. I gave you a quick taste of the inductive method as requested by my brother. I am trying to see how this indcutive Bible study method takes into consideration, not just what we get from the text from just reading it, but what the author meant to convey to his audience and what the author's application was to his audience. - Answer: I believe the application is believe on Jesus as the Messiah. Answer: We know that Matthew is one of the four gospels that testifies to the work and person of Jesus Christ - the Messiah - the Son of God who came to die on the cross, paid the debt for sins. He was in the grave for three days. God the Father being satisfied with His perfect sacrifice raised Christ from the dead, a bodily resurrection. He appeared to many. He ascended to heaven. He poured out the Holy Spirt who comes into those who put their faith and trust in Christ and His finished work on the cross. The Holy Spirit helps us live the christian life. I don't see it here in this method. Perhaps you could help me to understand better, I am missing something, or not understanding correctly? The inductive study method can be found at Precept.org. Also this website Studybibleforum sells the inductive study bible by Kay Arthur. This is what brought me to this site. There is also a website called Preceptaustin.org that favors the inductive study method. Blessings, Val |
