AMPLIFIED 2015 | Malachi 3:10 "Bring all the tithes (the tenth) into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you [so great] a blessing until there is no more room to receive it. Bible Question: As a NT church, new Christian is it that a tithe equals 10 percent of your gross or net income? I am confused on this issue. Could you please provide me with some scripture to help me with the whole plan of tithes. |
Bible Answer: We are in the dispensation of Grace...not Law. Paul says many times he is our pattern, that we must follow him as he follows Christ, that his gospel will judge us Gentiles. Paul said the things you have learned, received, heard, and see me do...you do. Show me one time Jesus told Paul to tell us to tithe. Therefore, the gospel given directly to Paul from Jesus on Christian giving is: to give generously, not of necessity or grudginly, but cheerfully. Jesus never told Paul how much we are to give. If you want to give 50 percent off the gross or net, do it! But, it should not be done under the Law, lest you frustrate the Grace of God. We are not Jews! Read ALL of Malachi, not just chp. 3. You will see it was the priests who were robbing God, not the people. But those verses were written to Israel...read the 1st verse! Bereaniam |
