NASB | Malachi 3:10 "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Malachi 3:10 "Bring all the tithes (the tenth) into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you [so great] a blessing until there is no more room to receive it. [Mal 2:2] |
Bible Question: If one is led by the Spirit to give, and "para-church" ministries have consistently been that leading, should an individual be disqualified for a leadership role within the local church because the entire tithe has not been given to that institution? |
Bible Answer: Dear Mommapbs....Please consider this view... AM 4:5 Burn leavened bread as a thank offering and brag about your freewill offerings-- boast about them, you Israelites, for this is what you love to do," declares the Sovereign LORD. I would not worry too much about what other Christians, leaders or not, do about freewill offerings. If there is no hypocrisy on the part of the leader, if the leader does not tithe while encouraging others to do so, then why disqualify the leader? There are plenty of New Testament guidelines for leaders (cf. 1 and 2Timothy, Titus) but tithing is not one of them. You may want to consider... MT 7:3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, "Let me take the speck out of your eye," when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." God Bless....Jensen |
