NASB | Malachi 2:17 ¶ You have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet you say, "How have we wearied Him?" In that you say, "Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He delights in them," or, "Where is the God of justice?" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Malachi 2:17 ¶ You have wearied the LORD with your words. But you say, "In what way have we wearied Him?" In that you say, "Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He delights in them," or [by asking], "Where is the God of justice?" |
Subject: Are we still doing this? |
Bible Note: Mommapbs -- God is wearied, but He is also patient and merciful, but not just in every sense! If He meted out strict justice to sinful flesh that we are, who indeed would be saved? And I'm glad, Mommabps, that you mentioned the idea that "man is basically good" which is so prevalent today, embraced not only in the organizations that profess to teach and practice secular humanism, but in organizations that profess to be churches but also teach and practice secular humanism.... This "man is basically good" idea makes both God and Scripture out to be liars, deceivers, and unenlightened relics of the past. But that's not all it does. It makes those who espouse it look like drooling idiots. How can anyone with a brain that functions at all view the world scene and still believe that man is basically good? What do these things say to us: rampant corruption in business and government, widespread mockery and perversion of the rule of law in the court system, moral and ethical bankruptcy and decay, wars on many fronts, snipings, terrorism, drug abuse, cheating, rape, murders, abortion, epidemic child and spouse abuse, tolerance and open acceptance and protection of the "rights" of sexual deviates -- is this proof that man is basically good? Thus has it been since the fall of mankind in the garden of Eden and thus it shall be, if I read Scripture aright, until Christ comes again. There is no way that man alone by his own resources and left to his own devices can ever reform himself, redeem himself, rid himself of his sin nature, or become "basically good." There is but one Way that mankind can ever be loosed from the bondage and iron grip of sin and degradation. It is He who said "I am the way, and the truth, and the life." [John 14:6]. There is only one gate, small and narrow, that leads to life, and there are few who find it. But the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter through it. [Cf. Matthew 7:13,14] --Hank |
