NASB | Malachi 2:17 ¶ You have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet you say, "How have we wearied Him?" In that you say, "Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He delights in them," or, "Where is the God of justice?" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Malachi 2:17 ¶ You have wearied the LORD with your words. But you say, "In what way have we wearied Him?" In that you say, "Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He delights in them," or [by asking], "Where is the God of justice?" |
Subject: Are we still doing this? |
Bible Note: I'm chuckling Hank! What struck me when I read this was the ever so prevalent notion that creeps into our psyche from all sorts of places that "man is basically good." Now of course that flies in the face of what God's Word says, but I suspect we all succumb to this subtle Satanic suggestion when we engage in "tolerant thinking" etc. We love to say, "God is a God of love" but we forget to add that He is a God of Justice. So the last line is striking to me too. We only want to see God as love until we are wronged, then how many of us whine and demand "justice." How dare we? God IS just. Are we seeking HIM or what He holds in His Hand? To ask "where" He is goes beyond arrogance! At this point we have lost sight of God's sovereignty. The focus becomes "my rights"! The spirit of entitlement is pretty ugly isn't it? I suspect that when God is distant or silent, we need to be about some soul searching. He promises to draw near to us when we seek HIM - not His blessings. No wonder God is wearied! I'm glad He's patient with us though! Mommapbs |
