Bible Question: Even though we refer to God as light, does God sometimes plunge mortals into the darkness of ignorance? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Reighn! That happened when the Word became flesh (1 Corinthians 1:18-31): the wisdom and understanding of the religious elite, as well as most of the general population, of God's chosen people (Israel) became a trap for them... Read Obadiah 1:8 and other similar Scripture in light of Romans 1:18-32. It is our choice to reject God's Authority that brings us to a life full of darkness and despair--our determination to serve the creatures rather than the Creator makes us unreceptive to God's Word and as we reject the Holy Spirit we close our minds, hearts and spirits to God; since God is Light our rejection of God makes us anti-Light or children of darkness! God does not plunge us into darkness, we gleefully choose to dwell in it: This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." (John 3:19-20) But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light (1 Peter 2:9) God Bless!
