Bible Note: Dear Cheri, I really struggle with the idea of some future temple being efficacious in any way for believers. I simply can't buy the whole dispensational thing. There is only one altar: the cross. There is but one mediator: Jesus. God has made his dwelling within the believer, not outside the camp. Those things are so much more powerful than the old Levitical things that foreshadowed them. But I guess, when such things come up, I can only echo Charles Spurgeon: "You will bear me witness, my friends, that it is exceedingly seldom I ever intrude into the mysteries of the future with regard to the second advent, the millennial reign, or the first and second resurrection. As often as we come across it in our expositions we do not turn aside from the point, but if guilty at all on this point, it is rather in being too silent than saying too much." In Him, Doc |
