NASB | Jeremiah 18:10 if it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will think better of the good with which I had promised to bless it. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Jeremiah 18:10 and if they do evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will reverse My decision concerning the good with which I had promised to bless them. |
Bible Question: Why is it that God, as an omniscient being will sometimes say "This will happen" but then allow that to be reversed by people's dumb (or smart) decisions?? I am not trying to be a smart alec here, just dont know what to think. Did this change with the new covenant?? I struggle with this |
Bible Answer: God says if the people will repent, I will reverse my decision. This really is no different from what we are faced with today. There is judgement pronounced against sinners, but if they will 'hear' and 'turn' (repent), that judgement will be reversed in the life of the individual. Psalm 119:104-106 His word is our lamp to show us through the darkness.... To walk in the light or darkness is our choice. Becoming mature is often a painful process. The awareness that God has made us accountable for our actions is often a lesson not well received. God is omniscient but He through His word has established spiritual laws or principles necessary to receive His blessings. God NEVER deviates from His word. He is not unpredictable. The terms unpredictable and just contradict each other. God bless Simply put..do it His way and receive His promises. |
