Bible Note: The Bible backs up its claim to be authored by God with a profound accuracy. There has been no scientific, medical, archeological, or historical fact discovered that has ever disproven the Bible. This is a sampling of the scientific statements made in the Bible: Job 38:31 "Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades,” This is the only constellation visible from earth that is actually bound together by gravity. Isa 40:22 “It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.” Isaiah wrote of the round earth, while other cultures thought the earth was flat. Modern physics understands that the universe was actually stretched, producing a red shift in the light from stars. Job 26:7 “He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.” Astronomers have discovered that directly above the earth’s north pole, is an area of space strangely devoid of stars. This is not noticible without a reasonably powerful telescope. And Job wrote that the earth hangs on nothing, as other cultures believed the earth rode on the back of a giant tortiose, or elephant. Ge 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” The seventeen elements that are in man are the same seventeen elements in dirt. Concerning medical information: Le 15:13 “'And when he who has a discharge is cleansed of his discharge, then he shall count for himself seven days for his cleansing, wash his clothes, and bathe his body in running water; then he shall be clean.” This recognizes the need for running water to carry away bacteria. Le 6:28 “'But the earthen vessel in which it (the meat) is boiled shall be broken. And if it is boiled in a bronze pot, it shall be both scoured and rinsed in water.” A clay pot cannot be disinfected as a metal pot can. De 14:9 “"These you may eat of all that are in the waters: you may eat all that have fins and scales. 10 "And whatever does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.” God declared all shellfish unclean. We now know that shellfish are not only high in cholesterol, but many are poisonous at certain times of the year. De 14:8 "Also the swine is unclean for you, because it has cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud; you shall not eat their flesh or touch their dead carcasses.” Again, we now know that pigs can give people trichanosis if not fully cooked. |
