Bible Question:
Whilst looking at Scripture concerning "healing" I came to this verse, when read in context it would seem to refer to the "healing" of the separation between man and God. Yet I have heard that same portion of scripture used to support teaching regarding the healing of the human body. Is my reading of this scripture correct or incorrect, please support your answer. Bible Answer: Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Surely He hath born our griefs - kholily means sickness and has to do with the body All sickness was taken on cross - He meets us where we are at and heals us so that we will hear Him And carried our sorrows - Makob: emotional pain; suffering and has to do with our soul. It refers to Mental suffering which deals with our mind Wounded for our transgressions - Pesha: breach of relationship and is related to the Spirit which is the real you Man / Sin relationship breached spiritually - Make Him Lord and breach restored Bruised for our iniquities - Avon: sin and has to do with the Spirit which is again the real you Past, present, and future - sin separated God; spiritual reconciliation Chastised for our peace - Shalom: peace; prosperity; wellness; safety wholeness; completeness Wholeness - about me; Completeness - fulfilling destiny - peace, et. His stripes we are healed - Rapha: healed - causative sense again has to do with the Body Healed - causes us to walk in health so we will serve Him These are 6 things that were prophesied about Jesus. It gives us the 6 areas that Jesus suffered in so that we can be healed. He did this 2000 years ago on the cross. I have been reading some of your posts and would like to recommend a book to you that I used in college. It is called Bible Faith Study Course by Kenneth Hagin. I have suffered from asthma most of my life. I could never do anything strenuous, I was never able to take PE. I remember a time when I could not walk from my car to my apartment. Not long after I took this course and went through the book I was healed. I can now run 2 miles in 25 minutes. I don't know what it will do for you - maybe nothing but it is worth a try. prayon |
