Bible Question (short): How do we receive living water? |
Question (full): Which translation would you prefer? Isaiah 41:17, NASB, "The afflected and needy are seeking water, but there is none, And their tongue is parched with thirst; I the Lord, will answer them *Myself, As the God of Israel I will not forsake them." Isaiah 41:17, NKJ, "The poor and needy seek water, but there is none. Their tongues fail for thirst. I the Lord, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them." The * shows the difference in the verse in that there is that additional pronoun of "Myself". There is also the difference in the idea of "I, the Lord, will hear them" or "I the Lord will answer them..." I am interested in this verse as I compare it with John 4:10, "...and *He would have given you living water." And also John 7:38, "He who believes in *Me, as the Scripture said, "From his [His] innermost being shall flow rivers of living water." And Isaiah 41:18, "*I will open rivers on the bare heights, And springs in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, And the dry land fountains of water."
