Bible Note: Dear Aaron, One can discuss the selection of Matthias in the light of the historical context and arrive at differing conclusions without challenging the doctrine of the authority of Scripture. However, the kyrigma as a whole is inerrant, by virtue of a specific work of the Holy Spirit. Consequently, when one of the New Testament writers interprets and Old Testament passage, we can have confidence that it is an accurate rending of the Spirit's meaning in the original passage.
