Bible Note: Hi Mark, Thank you for your interest. I am not knowledgeable in Hebrew nor Greek to any great degree. I do not have access to textual evidence nor knowledge of all the manuscript choices. I do believe that the translators need to be more consistent in their inclusion of pronouns from book to book or in Paul's letter to letter. For instance, in the NKJ 1 Timothy 6:16 reads, "...to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen." The same Greek pronoun reads "To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!" in the NKJ for 2 Timothy 4:18. I believe that they can be more consistent in their translating. The NASB has "To Him be the glory" in both cases of 1 and 2 Timothy. I personally have chosen "to whom be the glory" for both cases. :) So I would hope that the translators would conform to a more consistent pattern of pronoun usage. 1) Now there are also recurring "patterns" that I have noted in my particular study method. These will influence some of my choices. For instance whether to capitalize "Light" in 1 Timothy 6:16. Or whether to seek a consistent usage in the Scriptures of "who alone" or "the only One" who possesses immortality. I hope this helps you understand where I am coming from. From the heart, Ray |
