Bible Note: How do we fix it? First we have to admit there is a problem and in light of John 17:22-23 (NASB) 22 "The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; 23 I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. And in the way the world (unsaved) sees Christianity we have to admit there is a problem if the truth is really in us. Then we have to discern what really separate us. We know scripture does not contradict itself so if there is a separation based on scripture we must first conclude it's existence is false and force ourselves in light of Jesus' prayer to resolve the problem. I would say that would be a good beginning. Actually with the exception of some current interests such as abortion and homosexuality and few others most of what separates us is based on not on society but rather on the "learned" study of people who claim to have a high view of the Bible and certainly claim it's authority. |
