Bible Question: How does one really forgive? I find it very difficult to fogive if the person who has wronged you is someone close to you (i.e., parents, siblings, spouse). Pls teach me how to forgive ... and eventually, forget... |
Bible Answer: Read Mark 11:25-26, Eph 4:32, John 20:23. Forgiving is a conscious act of the will. Jesus did not tell us to do something we cannot do. When we think of the enormity of the sin that God has forgiven us for, how can we hold such a small sin against someone else? We have to make up our mind that we are willingly to forgive the person for the act that was done against us and then proclaim aloud to God, "Lord I forgive ( name the person) and release them from everything I am holding against them. I restore them back to the place they with me before this incident occurred. I love them and I want you to bless them. Please forgive me for having an unforgiving spirit" |
