Bible Question: In the old testiment polygamy was accepted and prevalent. When and why did this change? No one . . . even Biblical scholars can answer this for me. David and Solomon had many wives. why can't I? When did this change. God is not changable is he? Please advise! |
Bible Answer: headdoc5: Welcome to the Bible Study Forum. I get a kick every time someone asks this question. Let me ask you a question or so, ok? Why would you want more than one wife? Every example of polygamy in Scripture proves to be a real sad story of wives fighting, hating, or hating the other wives children. The children have many problems, and the dumb husband plays favorites with the wives and children. Why on earth would anyone want such a mess? Lastly what makes you think that any where in Scripture God said to take more than one wife with his approval, or direction to do so? I might be wrong but when I have heard this befoe this persumption was based on sexual fantasy. If polygamy was acceptable, could you explain what adultery would be then? I would like to know your reasoning in response to my questions. Blessings justme |
