Bible Question:
My wife and I are faced with a decision that is tearing at our very being. God has blessed us with three wonderful, healthy kids who we love dearly. My wife developed some medical complications and has been watched closely by our GP and her gynaecologist. After collapsing one morning and being unconscious for a few minutes, she was given a blood transfusion to increase her iron and hemoglobin count. This has not helped. She has been advised by the gynaecologist to have a special IUD inserted. This IUD would prevent the heavy blood loss she currently experiences during menstruation. The IUD was to be inserted in February 2002. We have just found out that she is 3 weeks pregnant. I am concerned about her health and cannot loose her. Is abortion wrong for us? We have been advised by the gynecologist that because of her age and her medical condition, she will develop complications. The unborn child could be at risk as well. WHAT DO WE DO. Is the Lord testing our Faith? |
Bible Answer: Dear Witp, Greetings to you in the name of the Lord Jesus! My friend and fellow Christian, let me first tell you that we are in prayer for your situation, and that you will have faith and wisdom from the Holy Spirit to see you through. As was pointed out, it is almost impossible to give valid counsel to you through an internet forum. You should be in close counsel with your pastor/shepherd at this time, and of course be in constant counsel with God. If I may point out something that you may have missed. Many doctors do not have the same standards as Bible-believing Christians, and may be somewhat hasty to suggest abortion. Please make sure that your doctor knows your stance on this issue. Next, get another opinion, preferably from a Christian doctor who is knowledgeable in this field. Your last question was asking if God is testing your faith. I think that it would be more correct to say that the situations of life are testing your faith. First, find peace, so that you can make a godly decision. Don't be 'bullied' into making a quick decision. Ask the Lord to guide you by the Spirit to see things as they really are. Together with your wife and children, open the Bible, and pray as one. As for a minister to come and help you. Ask for fellowship and prayer from the saints of your church. May the Lord give you all that you need to overcome the situations of life to the glory of God!
