AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 20:10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath [a day of rest dedicated] to the LORD your God; on that day you shall not do any work, you or your son, or your daughter, or your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock or the temporary resident (foreigner) who stays within your [city] gates. |
Bible Question:
If you choose not to keep the 4th commandment why do you choose to keep the other nine? Is there a ranking system where one is more important than another? Are you saying that none of them are important because Christ died. In John 14:15, John 14:21, John 15:10 what commandments are Jesus referring to? Jesus hadn't died yet so there was no new covenant yet. What commandments of his Father was he keeping? If Jesus superceded the covanent why did he follow any of the Mosaic laws. 1John 2:3 says we know that we know Him if we keep his commandments. What commandments? 1John 5:3 says if we love God we will keep his commandments. What commandments? Rev 12:17, 14:12, and 22:14 says God knows us because we kept his commandments. I need to know what those are so when Jesus comes again He will know me. Thanks for the help |
Bible Answer: ScottP Mark 2:23-28 (NKJV) 23 Now it happened that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath; and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain. 24 And the Pharisees said to Him, "Look, why do they do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?" 25 But He said to them, "Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry, he and those with him: 26 "how he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the showbread, which is not lawful to eat, except for the priests, and also gave some to those who were with him?" 27 And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. 28 "Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath." Jesus is the fulfillment of the Sabbath. Therefore is it better to keep the Sabbath, which incidently is not a day of church but of rest, that is pointing to the comming Rest Giver (Shiloh Gen 49:10) or is better to keep the day of the fulfillment the resurrection a day of worship/celebration)? The early church and church father thought the latter and I once again agree with their wisdom. Incidently this subject has been discussed many many times before.
