Bible Note: Greetings John! Thanks for the well wishes my friend! I don't know whether or not David practiced his dance, but we do know that he wrote many psalms for public worships. I am sure that he practiced them many times. We also know that many of the psalms included directions to the 'choir' concerning how to sing a particular psalm. Personally, I don't think that any particular 'element' either hinders or helps worship. Worship comes from the heart. Two people can sit in the same service. One can worship and the other can have his mind on everything else. What was the difference? I can definitely appreciate the difficulties associated with 'leading' a worship service. Almost a year ago, my wife and I took on the responsbilities of leading worship. She works with the choir and I work with our musicians and praise team. We are not a 'large' church, but I have found that there is far more work involved than anyone suspects! :-) Between selecting, organizing, and practicing the music for the worship services alone, I probably spend about 4 hours a week in preperation time. That does not include the time my wife puts in for the choir. However, I am a firm believer that if we are going to do something for Christ that we should do it to the best of our abilities. So, I believe in preparation and practice. To me, the biggest hinderance to worship is the 'rush' that most Christians seem to be in to get out of church! ;-) We always seem to be in such a hurry to get out for lunch that we don't take the time to worship. Well, I have to get to bed! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
