Bible Note: Hi Tim, If an elevated platform wasn’t used by Paul, for the purpose of being heard, then how did Paul manage to walk down to where the boy feel, which was also down? Acts 20:10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him. Elevated platforms were in use long before the days when Christ walked the earth, so that the orator could be seen as well as heard over the crowd. Many times a wax mask was placed over the face of a speaker in plays, on elevated stages, so that their play-acting mood could be conveyed visually to those off at a distance. Thus the word hypocrite, Greek, hupokrites, or speaking from behind the wax mask of deception. It was a theatrical term and known by most due to those speaking from an elevated stage. CDBJ |
