Bible Question (short): Easter questions |
Question (full): After researching Easter on this site I came across this fact: "according to the World Almanac, Easter is observed on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox (the first day of spring)." This has prompted some thoughts and questions. Since the term "Easter" is a derivation from pagan goddesses, why has the church embraced this word? For the believer, our Lord's triumph is a day to celebrate - doesn't "Resurrection Day" seem more worth celebrating than "easter?" Which is the correct day of observance according to the Jewish Passover? Wouldn't it be great to begin a Christ-centered, world-wide movement to re-establish the correct day of observance of our Lord's Triumph or would this just wreck havoc with our "Easter Vacation" scheduling? Just wondering . . . Mommapbs |
