Bible Question:
When the multitudes heard that Jesus/ was coming to Jerusalem, they John 12:13, "took the branches of the palm trees, and went out to meet Him, and began to cry out, "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the (Lord), even the King of Israel." 14 And Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written, 15 'FEAR NOT, DAUGHTER OF ZION; BEHOLD YOUR KING IS COMING, SEATED ON A DONKEY'S COLT." What is your understanding here of the Scripture in the ALL CAPS of the Greek? Are the people looking for a king or the King? How about you personally? Are you looking for the King? How does this passage in John 12 relate to the fact that people were trying to "force" their way into the kingdom? John 12:16-19, Matthew 11:10-20, 1 Samuel 2:10 From the heart, Ray |
Bible Answer: Ray The use of all small caps in this passage is unique to NASB and shows the use of a Old Testament quote. The people in my opinion are looking for anything or anyone that will free them from the occupation of Rome. The are more interested in the political/social aspect than they are any religions aspect. I'm not looking for anything my Lord has revealed Himself to me and lives within me. Again I don't think the people had any spiritual view at this time they just wanted free of Rome. EdB |
