Subject: Shout to the (r)Rock of our salvation? |
Bible Note: Hi Rowdy, My question was "What does the greatness of our God and King mean to you?" I wanted to suggest in the Scripture references that God repeats Himself often. He speaks of certain things; great and wonderful things, spiritual things, and things of the Spirit. Jesus declared all things to us; John 4:25, "...when that **One comes, (He) will declare all things to us. Do we see Jesus as the **King? The Spirit of truth comes to us also and discloses to us what is to come. John 16:12, "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 But when the Spirit/ of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for **He will not speak on (His) own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose what is to come. 14 He shall glorify Me; for He/ shall take of Mine, and shall disclose [it ] to you. All things that the **Father has are (Mine);..." Before I leave the forum and this earthly life, I want to share some of the things that have been revealed to me as I have "worked out" my salvation through the years. The things of the (Spirit), knowing (Him), belonging to (Him), being complete in (Him), knowing the (Light) of the world while being a light in the world. Trying to know the word of (God) and seeing the triune God in all these things has been an obsession for many years for me. I don't want people to think that the Bible needs a "code" or that it is some "magical" book of words. But I would suggest that we make our God great (upper case, :)), for He is a great God and greatly to be praised. I believe that there is a "pattern" that could be revealed to us according to the will of God. But in "working out" my salvation and my faith system, I know that there was no strange god that came to earth. This Jesus was not just a man. He came as light but was the Light of the world. He is our rock, our refuge, our stronghold; but He is also our Rock. I don't want to necessarily want people to count pronouns for it is tedious and can become compulsive, but I want people to put their faith in the God who is above all gods, the King of kings, and Lord of lords. Consider these things (nouns, pronouns) of God. Know the Person and Deity of God. Psalm 83:18, "That they may know that Thou alone, whose name is the **Lord, Art the (Most) High over all the earth." Psalm 85:9, "Surely (His) salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land." Question: Psalm 95:1, NASB, "O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation." Psalm 95:1, NKJ, "Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation." Which version do you go with? Does it matter? Are not both of them correct, rock and Rock? Yet we know that there is no god like our God, and no rock like our Rock. If I have answered my own question well enough, please give me a reference Scripture that is meaningful to you regarding these things. From the heart, Ray |
