Subject: why did jesus speak in parables ? |
Bible Note: Anonymous, Everyones answers have been very good, but I just wanted to add a little to what I've read here. Yes, in Matt. 13 Jesus is speaking in a parable regarding a sower who went forth to sow, verses 1-9, notice that Jesus says in verse 9, Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. He's pointing out that who here has the ears to really hear what I'm saying to you. Doesn't faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.It's not just the normal hearing, but truly percieving what is being said and understanding. Then in verse 10, And the disciples came, and said unto Him, "Why speakest thou unto them in parables?" Then in verse 11 he says, He answered and said unto them, "Because it is given unto you (to know) the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but unto them it is not given. I put an enficies on to know, because Jesus says on judgement day, go ye workers of iniquity, I knew you not. the KNOWING is so imperitive, trust me. Verse 12, For whosoever hath, ( I'm adding (ears to hear)to him shall be given (remember v 11 here), and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, (ears to hear and know) from him shall be taken away even that he hath. This has to be with your HEART. Verse 13, Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing SEE NOT; and hearing they HEAR NOT, neither do they UNDERSTAND. Verse 14, And IN them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear and not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not percieve. Verse 15 For this people's HEART is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should UNDERSTAND with their HEART, and should be converted, and I should heal them. This parable goes with Romans 11, read it all. I'm telling you when your eyes begin to open and you truly see, you continue to see more and more and more and more, and hear more and more and deeper and deeper understanding. The rest of the chapter continues to help you to see the meaning of this parable. It is so deep. But then he explains the parable to his disciples after sending the multitude away. isn't that interesting. Then in verse 35 he quotes prophecy from Ps. 78:2 I truly stand by that you can't truly understand the new testament without knowing the old testament. Jesus backs me up in verse 35 (I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world). SO POWERFUL I truly hope I have helped you to see and understand why he spoke in parables. The Father's Word is AWESOME above AWESOME. Keep reading and studying and praying for eyes that truly see and ears that truly HEAR. Thank you Anonymous because by me helping you to see and hear I Saw and Heard something I have never Saw or Heard with greater understanding as ever before. I was truly BLESSED above measure.
