Bible Question:
I have been considering Psalm 51:11 and Ezekiel 36:27 tonight and have "penciled in" some changes to my own personal copy. I wonder if you would consider putting Holy Spirit in lower case? Psalm 51:11, "Do not cast me away from Thy presence, And do not take Thy *holy *spirit from me." What I am considering is that "presence" and "holy spirit" and "salvation" would be more connected if spirit was in lower case. In other words, "Thy presence", "Thy holy spirit", and "Thy salvation". 2) Ezekiel 36:27, "And I will put My *spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances." What I am considering here is that verse 26 speaks of a new heart and a new spirit within you, so a continuing with "My spirit within you" would make sense. Ezekiel 37:14, NASB, "And I will put My Spirit [marginal note, Or, breath] within you, and you will come to life, and I will place you on your own land." Here, with the incorporation of "breath" instead of "Spirit" we would be consistent in our usage of "spirit within you". What are your thoughts on the above? From the heart, Ray |
Bible Answer: Greetings Ray, After reading John 14:16,17 and 26 it makes sense to me to keep both Ez 36:27; 37:14 with Spirit. IMO this reference alludes to the passage in John. As far as Psalm 51:11 goes, if David is connecting God's presence with recognition of His Spirit, why lower s? Blessing, mommapbs |
