Bible Question: I am going through a rough time in my life. I know the Lord and I am seeking him. What can I read or do feel that he hears my cries? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Cynthia - This comes from a Christian man of three score and ten years, and let me assure you that in all those years I've gone through plenty of rough times. To name a few: the loss of my job in the same week that my wife gave birth to our first child, the loss of both parents, the loss of a son at the hands of a drunk driver, two heart attacks followed by open-heart surgery ... the list is long. Looking back, it is plain to see that God has been with me through it all and has never stopped loving me and blessing me in so many ways in spite of the rough times. I KNOW that He has heard my cries, I KNOW that He has never forsaken me and He never will. How do I know these things? My feelings? NO! Much better than that. More reliable than that. I quote a line from a song I used to sing as a child ages ago: "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so." .... Here's a word from Henry Blackaby that I hope will encourage you: "In Christ, something good always awaits. Don't expect God to remove every difficult situation you're going through. Watch instead to see how He will use your tough times to bring about good in your life." ..... And here's a word from Paul, the old apostle who went through some mighty tough times before God called him home to glory: "We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, those who are called according to His pupose" (Romans 8:28 Holman CSB). You have my prayers, dear Cynthia. --Hank |
