Bible Question: I have been away from the church now for awhile and have not been reading the bible, does this mean I have lost everything god has to offer? I would also like to know what I should be reading in the bible to get me back in the right direction. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Kevlee! One of the greatest promises in the Bible is found in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." Each of us fails God at some point or another. Should you have been going to church? Yes! Should you have been reading your Bible? Yes! But, the fact that you weren't doing these things doesn't mean that God doesn't love you anymore, nor does it mean that you should continue neglecting these things. Confess your sins to God, and He will forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Then, start going to church and reading your Bible. You have wasted time, but not the opportunity. Start fresh! Usually, I recommend new (or newer) believers start reading in the Gospel of John. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
