Bible Question:
What are boasting things. Does it mean don't speak or talk big, yes the Word says "the more the words the less the meaning and how does that profit anyone"? (Eccl.6:11 NIV). Again the word says "A man who calls himself religious should keep a tight bridle on his tongue . . . (Jam. 1:26) But what you speak is what you get right . . . "For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned" (Matt. 12:37 NIV) I know flattering lips is like a deceitful lips but i need to understand what the Word meant by boasting things. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Wofa Ato! Both Lionheart and Searcher56 gave great advice for doing a word study. Here's how I can help you get started with that: 1) With the help of the E-Sword Bible software, I have copied and pasted the following verse with it's Strong's Numbers next to the words that were translated from Hebrew into English. "Psalm 12:3 The LORD [H3068] shall cut off [H3772] all [H3605] flattering [H2513] lips, [H8193] and the tongue [H3956] that speaketh [H1696] proud things: [H1419]" For more on E-Sword, please visit http://www.e-sword.net. Strong's Exhaustive Concordance is arguably the most comprehensive (and definitely the most well known) Bible Concordance available in which you can study every Bible word and its Greek/Hebrew equivalent as well as find other occurrences of the same word. It has proven to truly be an invaluable asset and essential component of any Bible study library. 2) Next, choose which Hebrew word you want to study (for example: lips: [H8193]) and go to http://www.blueletterbible.org/search.cfm#strongs and type in H8193 in the box immediately to the left of "search now" and then click on "search now." It will bring up each occurrence of the Hebrew word (works for Greek also) in the KJV. I hope this helps in getting your Word study off on a great start! Blessings to you, Makarios |
