Bible Question: I am a new believer and am really looking to emerse myself in the word but I am not sure where to start. I'm not sure that starting with Genesis right now really makes sense for me considering the place I'm at in my life and what I am looking to find, so I'd like to start somewhere in the New Testament - any suggestions on where to start or how to go about the process of introducing myself at depth to scripture? Also, is it wrong to go into this process looking to get something in particular out of it? This isn't to say I am limiting myself to only that, but I am hoping to find particular information about forgiveness and God's unconditional love and acceptance of us (which obviously is there). I just don't know if going in with my own agenda is the right thing to do. Thanks! :) |
Bible Answer: Well, if one is going to read the Bible, it is a good idea to begin reading the Bible at John 1, verse one. Because throughout the entire Old Testament one will be reading about "God", and because throughout the entire New Testament one will be reading about "the Lord Jesus Christ". Why begin specifically reading the Bible at John 1 verse 1, because it immediately explains, right off the bat, who is God, who was the Light, and who was the Word, and then on to who was with God in the beginning and who exactly was the Creator of Heaven and Hearth. Might as well have tose fundemmental questions answered before learning about anything else that should follow... |
