Subject: What the scripture say about morality? |
Bible Note: Makarios, I found your statement, "One cannot be motivated to sin from reading the Bible," to be interesting. While I understand what you are saying, have you considered Paul's statements about the Law (contained in the Bible) in Romans? There he writes in Rom 7:4: "For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, WHICH WERE AROUSED BY THE LAW, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death." He writes in verse 8: "But sin, taking oportunity through the commandment (the Law), PRODUCED IN ME coveting of every kind..." And in verse 10: "And this commandment (the Law) which (I thought) was to result in life, proved to result in death for me." The Law is indeed holy, righteous, and good, but it's effect in us is to stir up sin. It is not the Law that is the problem. It is indwelling sin that uses the Law to cause us to sin.
