Subject: The Benefits of Knowing God's Word |
Bible Note: Psalm 119 identifies the benefits of reading (hearing), knowing and doing the Word of God. Below are a few of the benefits for those believers who study the Word of God: 1)We will be blameless (complete, having integrity) – vs. 1. 2)We will not do unrighteousness – vs. 3. 3)We will not keep our way pure (undefiled by the ways of the world or of the flesh) – vs. 9. This is because God’s Word is pure – vs. 40. 4)We will not be ashamed – vs. 6. 5)We will be kept from sinning – vs. 11. 6)We will have an answer for those who persecute us – vs. 42. 7)We will walk in liberty (a broad place) – vs. 45. 8)We will have hope – vs. 49. 9)We will be revived (in our spirit) – vs. 50 and vs. 59. 10)The wicked will not prevail over us – vs. 61. 11)We will be an encouragement to other believers – vs. 74. 12)We will be comforted – vs. 76. 13)We will be saved out of our distresses – vs. 81. 14)We will be kept (preserved) from perishing – vs. 92. 15)We will not be destroyed by the wicked – vs. 95. 16)We will be wiser than our enemies – vs. 98. 17)We will have greater insight than “flesh and blood” teachers – vs. 99. 18)We will know the ways that are evil – vs. 101. 19)We will be taught by the Lord – vs. 102. 20)We will have understanding to discern false ways – vs. 104 and vs. 130, because God’s words are truth – vs. 140. 21)We will not stumble because God’s words will light our path – vs. 105 and vs. 164. 22)We will be established in our walk with the Lord – vs. 133. 23)We will not be overcome by iniquity – vs. 133. 24)We will not do what is wicked – vs. 150. 25)We will know what is True – vs. 163. 26)We will have great peace – vs. 165. 27)We will be helped by the Lord – vs. 173.
