Bible Note: Greetings Electionresults! Since you posed this as an open question, may I address it? First of all, why only list two options? Your question reminds me of the old joke about the man who was asked, 'Are you still beating your wife?' No matter the answer, the man can't win. :-) So, rather than responding to an obvious trick question, I would ask you to examine your own meditation. According to the definition you cited above for meditation, it includes study. When dealing with the words of the Old and New Testaments, we are dealing with words that have historical contexts. For instance, if we look up the words for 'eunuch' (that you mentioned in an earlier post) we would find that none of the terms were every used historically to refer to homosexuality. Yet, in your 'meditation' on this word, you propose this an an acceptable meaning of the word; thereby, twisting Scripture to say that which you want it to say. Is this really 'meditation' or is it 'eisgesis'? I know, this is a trick question. :-) I can't speak for anyone else my friend, but I have no problem with questioning or consideration of other views. But, I do have a problem with pulling theological rabbits out of thin air, without any historical evidence to support them. One final word about meditation! If the Law of God is to become part of us, than we must obey what it actually says, not what we would like it to say. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
