Bible Question (short): Meditating on the Word |
Question (full): Hello Saints, This has been an in-depth study of mine over this verse. I have always looked at the Jewish people that stand before the Wailing Wall, seemingly "mumbling" and even studied 1 Samuel 1:12-13 with Hannah's prayer for God to open her womb and Eli's negative reply. So, I've been a little self-concscience and stand-offish about the topic of spoken "prayer". Then, to my surprise I discovered that the word meditate in Hebrew does equte to meaning "mumble" or "speak to one's self". So, therefore I conclude this means speaking the Word outloud, (not neccessarily yelling it, of course.) I have began to pray from the Word a lot more and find that the Spirit will give utterance during my times of prayer flying me through other Scriptures that my prayers are more Christ-centered and Christ-glorifying. I wouldn't equate what I have discovered through the Word with the new, fad-ish "name-it-claim-it" movement, but would like to know if there are any other saints that have found this to be true and have begun to have a more Spirit-led and Christ-centered prayer life, by meditating on Scripture, not to get understanding (though, I do know that understanding and wisdom of the Word, also is a function of the Holy Spirit because of Col. 2:2 "that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ" But in the realm of meditation-led prayer, I have definitely noticed that since I've been a place of total dependence and desire for God, I have seen great increase in other places, but more noticably here. And through this, I'm praying that my fruitfulness would increase to His glory and His alone!! Hallelujah! God is so good and great! |
