Bible Note: Greetings Country Girl! You wrote: "...whether or not we make it into Heaven depends on how we lived our lives." Where does Scripture actually say this? Scripture clearly teaches that this is not true. Consider the following: 1) Titus 3:4 - "But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life." 2) 2 Tim. 1:9 - "who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time," Christians are already citizens of Heaven - NOW! Our citizenship is not dependent upon how we live our lifes. Phil. 3:20 - "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ," Our inheritance in Heaven is kept by God Himself for us. 'Kept' is the word 'guarded'. We don't have to 'hope' we will get our inheritance. God Himself is guarding it and keeping it for us. 1 Pet. 1:4 - " and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you," I pray that everyone reading this would, once and for all, come to understand God's grace. We don't have to 'earn' salvation. It is a gift, not a wage to be earned. It is a present reality, not something that we only hope we will receive in the future. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
