Bible Note: Nolan- Seems to me that Mary was a very common name in those days, just as Jesus was. Unless specified, we can't KNOW that she was the adulteress who was forgiven. I agree that she was probably a different Mary altogether and the fact that it says that she was with the other women, followers and supporters of Jesus puts her with a group of women who would probably have lost their physical appeal on the street corner! (Sorry to all of you in that age group - myself incuded!) I don't think we are to add to scripture what it doesn't say. But she is such an example that no matter where we come from in life, Jesus can forgive, deliver, save and use us - no matter what age or social circumstance. Debbie |
